XML-to-template conversion

[modifica]

Hi Ryan,

I've seen the changes in your sandbox, and the first concern that I've had, but that you have promptly solved, is about the removal of the "empty listings". They are a part of the template so they should remain where they are.

Try to make a couple of longer articles like Stoccolma and Atene. If everything is going well (as I think) you can proceed all over the others articles. --Andyrom75 (discussioni) 21:16, 22 giu 2013 (CEST)Rispondi

Done:
Also, please let me know what the edit summary should be. -- Ryan talk 22:01, 22 giu 2013 (CEST)Rispondi
The first see occurrence in Atene is buggy. Price (Prezzo) it's not shown. Any idea for that? --Andyrom75 (discussioni) 22:58, 22 giu 2013 (CEST)Rispondi
Sorry my mistake. I haven't noticed that with the new templates, Price/Prezzo is shown in a different position (i.e. at the end of the listing). --Andyrom75 (discussioni) 23:14, 22 giu 2013 (CEST)Rispondi
Bot authorized and flagged. Please proceed with the conversion and let me know any exception that you can't autonomously (manually) correct. --Andyrom75 (discussioni) 23:29, 22 giu 2013 (CEST)Rispondi
Thanks! I need to run some errands this afternoon, so I'll either run it tonight or tomorrow morning. I'll use the English edit summary, unless there's something else you would prefer. -- Ryan talk 23:33, 22 giu 2013 (CEST)Rispondi
What do you exactly mean with "English edit summary"? --Andyrom75 (discussioni) 23:58, 22 giu 2013 (CEST)Rispondi
The field that goes in the "Summary:" line when an edit is made, and that then appears in the article history, recent changes, etc. Currently it is:
Conversion of {0} legacy XML listings to Template:Listing per en:Wikivoyage talk:Listings#Tags to templates
-- Ryan talk 02:26, 23 giu 2013 (CEST)Rispondi
That's ok, but I need something different (if possible). Maybe you can log into your PC and then post it afterwards in your sandbox something like this:
* Artcile1 - 2 listings skipped, 1 see skipped
* Artcile2 - 1 do skipped
* Artcile3 - 1 eat skipped, 1 drink skipped
etc... What do you think? --Andyrom75 (discussioni) 07:16, 23 giu 2013 (CEST)Rispondi
I think there is a misunderstanding - my question doesn't relate to listings being skipped (if the bot skips any listing due to bad data I'll fix it manually and re-run). When I finish this edit, I'm going to write in the edit summary box "response to Utente:Andyrom75 re: edit summary". When the bot edits it will also record an edit summary for every edit (currently: "Conversion of X legacy XML listings to Template:Listing per en:Wikivoyage talk:Listings#Tags to templates"). Since I don't speak Italian I'm currently using English text for the edit summary, but I would assume that Italian would be better, provided you can tell me what you would like to see used. -- Ryan talk 07:25, 23 giu 2013 (CEST)Rispondi
Ahhh! Yes, right, I've misunderstood what you meant :-) It's ok the English version because it's practically identical to the Italian one. Just remove the link to the English discussion. We've just quickly discussed in the lounge but after the periodic discussion archive it will became a dead link. --Andyrom75 (discussioni) 08:11, 23 giu 2013 (CEST)Rispondi
Excellent! ...and thanks for supporting. --Andyrom75 (discussioni) 20:09, 23 giu 2013 (CEST)Rispondi
Thanks a lot for your help. I have a question on the following patch where you have delete the complete listing or just the url attribute, because I haven't understood the reason:
* Deleted: , , , ,
* Missing url: ,
Let me know, --Andyrom75 (discussioni) 23:55, 23 giu 2013 (CEST)Rispondi

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

All of the URLs in those edits were blocked by the spam blacklist, so I had to remove them in order to edit the article. In some cases the URL appeared to be the primary URL of the business, so I assumed the business was blacklisted and removed the entire listing. In a couple of cases the URL was to a forum or a redirection service, so I just removed the URL. -- Ryan talk 00:03, 24 giu 2013 (CEST)Rispondi

mmm Once I've found that jersey.com was globally blacklisted by mistake. After a discussion they have "paint it white" :-) So I think that we should better verify those urls before removing the whole entry (or also just the url itself). --Andyrom75 (discussioni) 00:23, 24 giu 2013 (CEST)Rispondi
Question, could you verify it you have migrated also the "alt" attribute? I've seen in few Sleep listing that the attribute is missing, but I don't if it's just because it was empty (although the other empty attributes are there...) --Andyrom75 (discussioni) 23:27, 24 giu 2013 (CEST)Rispondi
Per en:Wikivoyage_talk:Listings#Tags_to_templates the alt tag is only included if it has data. See (for example) "Historiska museet" and "Stadshuset" in Stoccolma. -- Ryan talk 23:30, 24 giu 2013 (CEST)Rispondi
Good. It was just a double check :-) --Andyrom75 (discussioni) 23:43, 24 giu 2013 (CEST)Rispondi
I've sent a message to meta to better understand what to do with the BL urls. I'll manage afterwards these exceptions manually. At this point I think that you bot shouldn't be involved anymore and in the affirmative case I'll remove the bot flag. What do you think? Let me know if you have or if you'll produce other bot-tasks that can be applied in it:voy as well, I'll be more than glad to engage you again :-) --Andyrom75 (discussioni) 11:27, 25 giu 2013 (CEST)Rispondi
All listings were converted in mainspace, so that job should be done. I'll probably be using the bot for other tasks on en:, but if you decide that you want any further changes done here I suppose you could always restore the bot flag then. -- Ryan talk 16:55, 25 giu 2013 (CEST)Rispondi
Sure! Thanks a lot the provided support and for your availability. --Andyrom75 (discussioni) 17:53, 25 giu 2013 (CEST)Rispondi
