Buongiorno Gobbler,
I noticed that you have created a lot of categories. I don't know how you guys on it normally handle that, but on de we have basically agreed not to create categories, as the location database and shared both enable the user to see where an article or picture belongs. I believe that creating categories on it will make working here much more complex, without having many benefits. It would leed to an enormous amount of work, while we already have the necessary information. Please give it a thought and tell me what you think. Ciao --Felix 14:44, 1 gen 2009 (CET)

Lost article revisions after DB crash
After a DB crash (s. the Lounge on general: for more details), 116 entries in the article revision table for it: have gone lost. As far as I can see, the data loss only affects the revision meta data (that's basically what is displayed in the recent changes) but not the actual article revision content. I'm able to list all lost revision texts from which I can estimate the name of the corresponding article. The only problem is that I only can guess the date when the edit has been made. It must have been on 2009-08-24. All meta info as names of the contributors, comments, exact time of the edit etc. are lost for this 116 revisions.
Here are the affected article names (at least as far as I can figure out):
For Lazio and Provincia di Latina, the lost revisions are only intermediate revisions. For both, the current revision is still present. The latter 5 articles seem not to have any content, which means that all their revisions are affected.
I guess that was you who has made the edits. Please tell me if not. I will manually restore the revision meta date with you as contributor, without any comment and with a guessed timestamp.

- Fine with Braga, but wait with the other 4 articles. After having slept over the problem, I have figured out a way to restore the lost DB table rows from old DB dumps. Give me 2 houres from now on. - I hope the lost revisions are back again, now. In order not to interfere with your new Braga article, I had to restore the old article with title Braga (restored). Also, there is the restored category Category:Braga (restored). It should be save to delete/rename either the restored or your new versions after you have made sure that all content is correct. -- Hansm 11:42, 20 set 2009 (CEST)
- UPDATE: I have deleted my temporary Braga (restored) and Category:Braga (restored). You will find the restored revisions of Braga in the article's history, now.

Problemi sui nomi giapponesi
Ciao, ho visto per puro caso editando la mia pagina personale che ci sono problemi con i nomi giapponesi che contengono l'allungamento vocalico: Tōkyō, Kyōto, Ōsaka eccetera. Ci sono infatti link con e link senza, risultando così in link mancati. Personalmente suggerirei di usare nel testo sempre la versione filologicamente corretta, ma di fornire dei redirect per chi cerca, in italiano, senza usare diacritici. - At de we try to use the correct names like Kyōto. In these cases we create additional redirects without any diacritics to support the search of theses sites. See for instance de:Hokkaidō and de:Hokkaido. In a few cases we use instead of them the western writings like de:Tokio. --Roland 09:11, 19 mar 2010 (CET)

La Paz - ampliamento
Ciao, son di nuovo (WV-it) Mauriki 05:50, 30 mar 2010 (CEST). Mentre mi occupo ogni tanto del Giappone, visto che son in questo momento a La Paz sto ampliando il capitolo delle escursioni nei dintorni di La Paz, dato che ho l'occasione di farle effettivamente in questi giorni. Sarebbe a mio avviso necessario aprire una pagina differente, perché tutto sotto La Paz diventa pesante e poco fruibile. Consigli? Meglio una pagina "dintorni e escursioni" che però sarebbe vaga e non ricercata? Meglio aprire pagine differenti (chacaltaya, muela del diablo, lago titicaca)? Aspetto il vostro parere. Tieni conto che ho anche alcune foto scattate in questi giorni. Aggiungere tutto sotto La Paz risulterebbe in un pasticcio, credo.

Name space
Ti rompo ancora le scatole, visto che sei attivissimo e mi piace fare le cose bene... 2 domande:
- -alla pagina Wikivoyage:Indice_namespace si parla sia di "mascherine" che di "template". Non capisco, pensavo che fossero la stessa cosa, ma mi disorienta la presenza dei due. Se mi dici che son la stessa cosa li uniformo. Anche avere la guida a posto è utile per i nuovi arrivati come me (o futuri).
- -ho provato a fare l'itinerario Muela del Diablo, indipendentemente da La Paz. Non so come inserire, e non lo trovo nella guida, il riferimento che dice "america del sud > bolivia > la paz".
Un'altra cosa. Secondo me la mascherina "itinerario" potrebbe essere migliorata. Se credi butto giù una bozza e poi ti dico.
Grazie ancora, intanto, ormai ti ho eletto mio mentore...
sugli itinerari
Condivido quanto dici. In effetti stavo facendo confusione io. Confondevo itinerario di Wikivoyage:Mascherina_Itinerario, come la mascherina per le città parchi eccetera, con gli itinerari della itinerari. Per capirci, la muela del diablo forse potremmo chiamarla escursione? Perchè certo che non ha senso paragonarla al giro delle missioni o al camino di santiago in Spagna o alla via Egnazia. Però inserire escursioni di una o due giornate, con tanto di descrizione del trekking, foto eccetera nel corpo di un articolo su una città mi pare estremamente pesante. Dimmi se ti piace come ho fatto per la Muela del Diablo: due righe sotto la categoria escursioni di La Paz e il collegamento alla sua pagina. Proporrei quindi solamente di chiamarle escursioni se vogliamo fare la differenza. O se dobbiamo. Altrimenti usiamo la mascherina itinerario ma le chiamiamo escursioni nel collegamento che le segnala in un articolo. Se va bene così e riesco a fare tutte le escursioni che ho in mente amplio pian piano, riversando quello che hai messo in un articolo più corposo per lasciare i collegamenti nella pagina di La Paz. (ho un sacco di lavoro, ma anche tempo. Se non cambia nulla starò qui probabilmente fino a fine anno... e adoro le escursioni...)
mascherine e template
Ciao! Dopo una chiacchierata con Hansm e spulciando la versione tedesca, ho finalmente capito bene la differenza fra mascherina e template. Ho iniziato quindi ad uniformare mascherine e a creare i template per ciò di cui c'era già la mascherina. (come mi ha spiegato Hansm la mascherina spiega come riempire il template, mentre il template fornisce il copia-incolla dello scheletro). Pian piano riempirò le mascherine conle spiegazioni sui contenuti. Penso che anche avere la pagina d'aiuto iniziale più completa ci possa dare più visibilità.

Please do not change hierarchy
Dear Gobbler, please do not change the location data base hierarchy as done for the Netherlands provinces. This will influence all wiki branches. If you delete a province, you must drop the database entry of the deleted article, not change the hierarchy. Maybe it's usefull to make the division of Netherlands compatible with wikitravel.org/en/Netherlands at WT -- without Centro. --Roland 08:08, 29 set 2011 (CEST)
