Acquaviva delle Fonti is located in the Murge plateau, a karst topographic plateau that covers a surface of some 4,000 km², and it lies in the provinces of Bari, Barletta-Andria-Trani, Taranto and Brindisi. It also extends into Matera and Basilicata regions.

• Festa della Cipolla (Italian for "The Onion Festival"). This event usually takes place between the end of July and the beginning of August. During this festival you can try local dishes with the "cipolla rossa" (red onion) as their main ingredient.
• Festa della Madonna di Costantinopoli. The Virgin Mary of Constantinople is celebrated by the residents of Acquaviva delle Fonti on the first Tuesday of September.
